FAQs

  • The school requires a 100% completion of class hours in order to receive a certificate of completion. All classes missed by a student must be made up in the next class series prior to
obtaining a completion certificate.

    Leave of Absences: If a student should need to cancel for illness or personal reasons that would prevent attending all sessions, the student could resume in the next class series, with no penalty, and may repeat the already completed sessions if desired.

    Inclement Weather: Your safety is important to us. We have students that travel from all over the state Students should not be on the road when hazardous travel conditions are present. If weather is questionable, please the Program Director directly, 757-778-7444 and check your email for more information. The class missed will be added to the calendar.

  • We do! There are multiple options available to those who qualify. Students may also inquire about our extended financing available to those who qualify and our extended payment plans listed below. We also offer military aid through MyCAA.

    Payments:

    -Credit Card - Students may call Today’s Dentist with their credit card information to process over the phone or students may process in person by appointment.

    -Personal or Cashier’s Check - Students may mail their checks to the school or drop them off during normal business hours, Monday – Friday 8 am – 5 pm. Please make checks out to Today’s Dentist Assisting School.  Please also note that there is a $50 fee for returned checks.

    -$100 enrollment fee is nonrefundable and required to hold your space in class

    -$1500.00 deposit is due a minimum of 1 week prior to the start of class.

    -The remaining balance can be paid over the 10 sessions. Weekly payments will be $330.00 and begin on the first day of class. Balances will be paid in full on the final session with this payment option.

    Care Credit:

    Today’s Dentist is happy to offer 12-month interest free payment option with Care Credit. To apply visit http://www.carecredit.com/ and request the full tuition amount of $4900.00. If approved, the student will have 12 months from the time of initial payment to pay interest free without penalties. Approvals made by Care Credit. Any financial agreements are between Care Credit and the student only. TDAS does not have any participation with credit card approvals.

    Grant Funding:

    TDAS is proud to partner with Virginia Career Works. Virginia Career Work assists individuals with career readiness and aids students in gaining funding for those eligible.

    Grant opportunities are at the discretion of Virginia Career Works for students who meet all criteria.

    MyCAA: The Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts Program

    This program is a component of the Department of Defense. It’s a Spouse Education and Career Opportunities program, a career development and employment assistance program. MyCAA helps military spouses pursue licenses, certificates, certifications or Associate's Degrees.

    Who is eligible for MyCAA Financial Assistance?

    Spouses of service members on active duty in pay grades E-1 to E-5, W-1 to W-2, and O-1 to O-2 who can start and complete their coursework while their military sponsor is on Title 10 military orders, including spouses married to members of the National Guard and Reserve Components in these same pay grades.

  • Completion of 10 consecutive weeks of classroom instruction for a total of 80 classroom hours.

    Completion of lecture material, as well as clinical, “hands-on” training. In addition, students should complete home study hours, plus a voluntary 10-15 hours of “practical” on-the-job training. Students are encouraged to complete in-office observation hours.

    Pass/fail with 70% or higher as the passing mark, as determined by a mid-term and final exam, along with
successfully completing clinical and practical experiences.

  • Norge Dental Center, Williamsburg’s award-winning dental practice. 7450 Richmond Rd. Williamsburg, VA, 23188

    Our Dental Assisting Program is held at Norge Dental Center, a 10,000 square foot, state-of-the-art, full service, family dental practice. We are an award winning dental practice and have been featured nationally. A large laboratory will be utilized for lab exercises, and all 16 dental treatment rooms will be utilized, with no more than 2 students per room. All necessary materials and equipment shall be provided as part of the tuition. There is ample student parking on site.

  • Applicants must be a high school graduate or hold a GED. All applicants are required to fill out our application for enrollment and successfully complete our interview.

    Applicants will be notified of their acceptance by phone and letter. If applicants have questions they may contact our Admissions Director – Beckie Flowers at (757) 778-7444. All classes are held on Saturdays.

  • Tuition: $4900.00

    Initial Deposit: $100.00 (Includes non-refundable deposit of $100.00 due at the time of registration to hold a position in the next class).

    Down Payment: $1500.00 due on or before orientation. All students are required to make minimum down payment of the following on or first instructional day of class. Failure to do so will result in cancellation of the student’s space in our program. Student will not be allowed to attend classes.

    Weekly Payments: Students may elect to spread payments out over time, with a payment of $330 per week, prior to the start of each class week.

    Make payments to Today’s Dentist. We accept all major credit cards.

    Books & Supplies

    Students will be provided with their mandatory text books, laboratory equipment and supplies as part of tuition. Students will also be supplied with a set of scrubs to be worn to class. Supplemental supplies will be at the discretion of the student.

  • The dental assisting program consists of 10 consecutive weeks of classroom instruction for a total of 80 classroom hours. Lecture material, as well as clinical, “hands-on” training are included each week. Topics covered are Dental Theory and terminology, front desk operations, Radiology and sterilization techniques. The lecture portion is held in a classroom setting, while the clinical/lab portions are held in the dental operatories at Norge Dental Center. In addition, approximately 60 hours of home study, plus voluntary 10-15 hours of “practical” on-the-job training. This constitutes approximately 155 course work hours.

    Students will be prepared to work in a general dental practice as a dental assistant.

    Students will also have their Dental Radiation Safety Certificate and CPR certification.

    Program Objectives:

Educate students didactically and clinically in all aspects of dental assisting, preparing them to work competently in a private practice or institutional setting, and to prepare them to successfully pass the state administered exam in dental radiology.
