What sparked your interest in Dental Assisting?
I’ve always been drawn to the healthcare field, but I knew nursing wasn’t quite my path. Dentistry felt like the perfect balance, it lets me care for people while focusing on prevention and smiles.”
Favorite dental procedure to assist with?
“I really enjoy making temporaries, night guards, and applying sealants because they give me the freedom to work at my own pace and showcase my skills without relying on the doctor.”
What makes Daniel smile?
“It’s such a joy to work for a Health Department that values kindness and respect for everyone, regardless of who they are or where they come from.”
Where has your journey taken you since graduating?
“Since graduating, I’ve gained hands on experience in several dental offices, learning advanced techniques like gingivectomy, iTero scanning, and CEREC technology. I’m also FEMA-certified through my position, ensuring I’m ready to serve patients safely and effectively.”
Where are you now?
“I’m currently working with Central Virginia Health Services, providing care in both general and pediatric dentistry.”
What did you love most about the Dental Assisting Program?
“The instructors were incredibly supportive, and the hands on learning went above and beyond in preparing us for real-life dental procedures and situations.”
Any advice to future dental assistants?
“This program gives you the right training to feel confident on your first day or during a working interview. If you’re thinking about going into dentistry, my best advice is—don’t settle! Try out different offices until you find where you truly belong. With practice and persistence, anyone can become a superstar dental assistant.”
