Beckie’s Career Journey

I’m doing what I love to do everyday I come to work.

Teaching our students gives me an even greater purpose.

Where were you doing before becoming a Dental Hygiene Assistant?

I was serving and bartending at Outback prior to my dental career. I had always been in the customer service industry working in restaurants.

What was your experience like going through the Dental Assisting School?

My dental experience began as a dental hygiene assistant. I wanted to further my skills as a dental assistant. I had some basic dental knowledge but there was still much to learn. I attended the first class offered through Today's Dentist Assisting School. The instructors were fantastic, kind, calm and supportive! I felt competent in my skills upon graduation and ready to assist chair-side.

Why did you choose Today’s Dentist Dental Assisting School program?

I was working in the office where the program was being held. It was the first time I heard about a program that offered training in just 10 Saturdays. It aligned perfectly with my schedule as I was already working full-time during the week.

What advice do you have for anyone thinking of entering the dental field?

This is the most rewarding career I have been a part of. I love connecting with patients and working along side of them to ensure they have a healthy smile that brings out their confidence and makes them want to smile more. Know this is a fantastic career with opportunities for endless growth. In the dental profession you will continue to be a life-long learner in the industry.

Explain your career path since graduating from the program.

I have had wonderful-fulfilling career opportunities since graduation. I continued working as a dental hygiene assistant and a dental assistant. I loved being cross trained in both positions.

Soon after graduation, I became an instructor for the school to help educate future dental assistants.

I absolutely love dental assisting but found my love to be in hygiene. I went on to graduate from Dental Hygiene School and currently I am a practicing Hygienist for Norge Dental Center.

In 2015 I was offered the position as the Program Director for Today’s Dentist Dental Assisting School. The joy I receive from watching students grow from week 1 to graduation is so rewarding. I really enjoy witnessing their journey and passion grow for dentistry. Teaching has been my favorite position held in the industry to date!

Cheers to beginning your dental journey! I can't wait to join you!
